15 BEST Kuta Lombok Beaches: Your Guide For 2024

//

Kuta Lombok Beaches are some of the most untouched and pristine beaches I have discovered in Indonesia.

Kuta Lombok is a tourist region on the very southern coast of Lombok Island with many beach resorts, markets, restaurants, cafes, bars, surf beaches, and more!

I have put together this ultimate guide including where to find the best beaches in Kuta Lombok, how to get around, and where to stay during your visit to Kuta Lombok.

QUICK ANSWERS: KUTA LOMBOK BEACHES

Before I dive into more detail about the beaches in Kuta Lombok, here are some quick answers to the most frequently asked questions from first-time visitors.

WHERE IS KUTA LOMBOK?

Kuta Lombok is the main tourist hub on Lombok Island and is located in the very south of the island.

Click here to see the location on Google maps.

It’s best to base yourself here in Kuta Lombok and discover the best beaches to the east of Kuta Lombok and also to the west of Kuta Lombok.

HOW TO GET TO KUTA LOMBOK?

The most convenient way to reach Kuta Lombok is by plane. Direct flights to Kuta Lombok from Bali, for example, cost around $50 each way.

From Lombok Airport a taxi will cost you no more than 200,000 IDR and it is a 45-minute drive to reach Kuta Lombok.

Search All → Flights to Lombok

If you are coming from the north of Lombok after trekking Mount Rinjani, you can organize a driver and a car for the day which costs around 700,00 IDR and they will be able to drop you at Kuta Lombok.

The drive from the north to the south is around 3 hours. However, we stopped in Central Lombok to visit some waterfalls, so the journey took us an entire day but I highly recommend visiting these waterfalls on your way through.

HOW TO GET AROUND KUTA LOMBOK?

I spent 3 days in Kuta Lombok exploring along pristine coastline both east and west of the central hub, seeking out the best beaches in Lombok.

It’s as easy as renting a scooter for 50,000 IDR per day and choosing which direction to drive in!

There are plenty of surf breaks to choose from and many surfboard rental shops in town that can sort you out if you are willing to get some waves.

Be sure to rent a surfboard from in town as there are no rental stores at the beaches.

CAN I BOOK A TOUR OF KUTA LOMBOK BEACHES?

Yes, absolutely!

Another great way to see all the best beaches during your visit is to book a full-day guided tour which includes a hotel pick-up and drop-off, an air-conditioned vehicle, all admission fees to five beaches, and a hearty lunch.

15 BEST BEACHES IN KUTA LOMBOK

SEGER BEACH

Seger Beach is only a 10-minute ride on a scooter from the center of Kuta Lombok town.

Pantai Seger is a great spot for a swim and a cold coconut from one of the beachside warungs.

Seger Beach is one of my favorite beaches in Kuta Lombok and a great spot to beach bum, go swimming in the cool waters, and marvel at tropical paradise surroundings.

SEGER POINT BEACH

Just over the headland from Seger Beach, is a popular surf spot called Seger Point, one of the best Kuta Lombok Beaches.

You can either ride your scooter around the hillside to Seger Point and pay a parking fee of 5,000 IDR or take a short walk up and over the hill through some cow paddocks and make your way down to Seger Point this way.

Straw huts line the water’s edge on this beautiful Kuta Lombok beach making it a perfect spot to perch up and gaze out over the ocean or paddle out on a surfboard to score some waves.

TANJUNG AAN BEACH

After exploring Seger Point Beach, you can head east again on the bike for 2 minutes where you’ll find a long stretch of white sand beach called Tanjung Aan.

Tanjung Aan Beach looks like something you would see on a postcard and it’s one of the most beautiful beaches worthy of checking out!

Be sure to check out this post on the best camera gear for travel so you can capture some awesome shots during your visit to Lombok.

BUKIT MERESE

Jump back on your scooter and drive another 5 to 10 minutes east from Tanjung Aan Beach to find Bukit Merese, one of the most popular beaches in the area and the best spot to watch the sunset.

There is a car park at the base of the hill and the parking fee is 5,000 IDR. If you like, you can buy beer, snacks, and water from one of the many mobile vendors in the car park.

The walk up to the viewpoint takes around 5 minutes where you will see Bukit Merese’s idyllic features of rolling hills and several small beaches and coves.

At the top, it’s a matter of picking your own headland to perch yourself on to watch the sunset.

We decided to walk to a headland that reaches right out over the ocean and we had a grassy patch all to ourselves.

The sky put on an incredible show for us displaying soft pinks and blues to the bright oranges and burning reds!

GERUPUK BEACH

Further on from Tanjung Aan you can find Gerupuk Surf Beach, one of the most popular surf spots and beaches in Kuta Lombok.

The surf breaks are quite far out off the coast and you will have to organize a boat to take you out to surf these breaks at Gerupuk Beach.

This can be easily organized through any of the friendly local surf guides at the harbor at the cost is 50,000 IDR per person.

You can also rent a surfboard at Gerupuk for 50,000 IDR.

PANTAI BILASAYAK & PANTAI TELUK UJUNG

Continuing on from Gerupuk you can find two more beaches called Pantai Bilasayak and Pantai Teluk Ujung.

Pantai Bilasayak is a 30-minute drive from Gerupuk or a 1-hour drive from Kuta Lombok. This spot was quite difficult to find though with the assistance of google maps you should have no dramas.

These two locations are well off the beaten track and definitely worth adding to your list of Kuta Lombok beaches to check out.

Pantai Bilasayak and Pantai Teluk Ujung are part of an environmental park and it wasn’t until we arrived that we found this out. The entrance fee is 100,000 IDR per person.

To get to Pantai Bilasayak, take the dirt road to the left when you pass through the entrance gates, and follow it right to the end until you reach the ocean. This beach was deserted when we were there and a great spot for a swim on high tide.

If you are seeking an adrenaline rush try to spot the “lookout tower” on top of the cliffs in the distance. To get to the tower, park your bike on the beach and trek for 10 minutes along the rugged cliffs till you reach the tower.

It is very rusty and sketchy but if you are an adrenaline junkie like myself it is worth the climb. The view from the top is spectacular and overlooks more undiscovered beaches down the east coast.

Head back on the same dirt track towards the entrance and before exiting take the dirt road that leads to the left.

This track leads down to Pantai Teluk Ujung, another deserted beach with rock pools and an awesome spot to watch the sunset.

PANTAI TELAWAS

Pantai Telawas is a tucked-away paradise with several coves, blowholes, caves, and cliff jumps. We spent some time here in awe of the beauty that surrounded us.

Exploring Telawas Beach was one of the best adventures we had during our visit to Kuta Lombok.

PANTAI SEMETI BEACH

Within walking distance from Pantai Telawas is yet another secluded Kuta Lombok beach. Pantai Semeti Beach will blow you away with its crystal clear water and blinding white sand.

There were some small waves breaking over the reef here so we went for a body surf and then took some shade under the palm trees along the beach to get out of the scorching sun.

MAWI BEACH

On the other side of the headland from Pantai Semeti Beach is Mawi Beach, one of the most popular surf beaches in south Lombok.

The waves here are as good as it gets when the conditions are right.

The tropical beach vibes here at Mawi Beach are on point with small bamboo huts and surrounding coconut trees, you’ll surely be in for a treat.

AREGULING BEACH

Picture this, – turquoise waters lapping at the white sand, palm trees swaying in the breeze, and the sounds of relaxation filling the air.

That’s exactly the kind of experience you will have when visiting Areguling Beach.

This long sandy beach is home to several beach warungs and it’s very quiet, which is great to spend a couple of hours chilling.

Here, you can easily spend the afternoon surfing, swimming, taking a boat out for a surf, and working on your tan.

KUTA BEACH

From dramatic cliffs to balmy turquoise waters and pristine white sand, the scenery here at Kuta Beach is simply spectacular.

Plus, what’s better for a surfer than riding world-class waves? Kuta Beach is a surfer’s paradise, perfect for riding fun reef breaks and scoring world-renowned swells up and down the coast.

And on top of that, there are dozens of accommodations, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, bars, and even hiking trails near Kuta Beach.

PINK BEACH

Pink Beach on Lombok Island is one of the ultimate escapes, perfect for soaking up some sun alongside amazing views of the ocean.

With its unique pink-hued sand, rocky cliffs, and relative seclusion, it’s become an increasingly popular destination.

Those looking for a bit more activity can enjoy snorkeling in clean, magical waters. But I recommend going with a tour guide to get to the nicest spots.

In terms of transportation, you can easily get here as the way is paved, so there are no dirt roads. The entrance fee is 7,500 IDR per person and IDR 10,000 IDR per car.

Before making your way there, you should know that the beach isn’t as pink as it used to be, so keep your expectations realistic. That being said, it’s still an amazing spot to swim and snorkel.

MAWUN BEACH

Situated about 15 minutes away from Kuta, you can easily get to Mawun Beach to surf a few waves, work on your tan, and enjoy the tranquillity that you won’t necessarily find in other parts of Lombok.

What I love about Mawun Beach is that it’s really clean, and the waves are pretty small, which is great for beginners.

In addition, it’s a lovely spot to swim and hang out under the shade of a beach umbrella.

SELONG BELANAK BEACH

Selong Belanak Beach is without a doubt one of the best beaches in Kuta Lombok.

Just 20 km from Kuta lies a stunning stretch of white sand beach where you can spend hours relaxing.

But that’s not it – apart from surfing, swimming, and chilling, you can see herds of water buffalo passing by, which, needless to say, adds a layer of uniqueness to this beach!

And if you’re new to surfing, you’ll find many instructors offering lessons and board rentals, which is great if you just arrived in Indonesia and want to learn to surf.

Sun beds here cost 50,000 IDR per person, which is more than other beaches, but still pretty cheap.

There are also several beachside warungs where you can order food and drinks.

TAMPAH BEACH

Tampah Beach is a tranquil, secluded beach with a wonderful stretch of white sand, ideal for those looking to relax and escape the more popular Kuta Lombok beaches.

The beach is clean, empty of tourists, and makes for good swimming.

There are basic facilities such as beach chairs with umbrellas to rent for only 20,000 IDR per person, and a small beach bar to buy simple snacks, drinks, and cold beer.

Make sure to pack a snorkeling kit as you’ll be able to see live corals if the tide is low!

Tampah Beach really is a great place to chill out on its beautiful sandy shores or explore the nearby areas – either way, you won’t regret it.
