DINGLI CLIFFS MALTA – OVERVIEW

Let’s start this guide with the essential information, including how to get there, the best time to visit, guided tours, and more.

WHERE ARE THE DINGLI CLIFFS MALTA?

The Dingli Cliffs are located on the western coast of Malta, near the village of Dingli. These cliffs offer stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and are among the highest points on the island.

Most visitors come from Valletta, Malta’s capital, and see both the cliffs and Mdina on a single-day trip.

HOW TO GET TO DINGLI CLIFFS?

To reach the cliffs, you have a few options such as renting a car, using public transportation, taking a taxi, or booking a guided tour.

OPTION #1: RENT A CAR

Renting a car offers the most control over your travel schedule and route when visiting Malta Dingli Cliffs.

It’s a short 25-minute drive from Valletta to Dingli, and you have the opportunity to visit nearby attractions without being reliant on public transportation.

We personally rented a car at Malta Airport when we arrived which was very convenient.

OPTION #2: PUBLIC BUS FROM VALLETTA

From Valletta, you can catch the bus line 52 to Dingli village for just €2 and then walk about 15 minutes to reach the cliffs.

OPTION #3: TAXI

Taking a taxi to Dingli is also an option, however, the price from Valletta is quite expensive, costing approximately €50 for a one-way trip.

OPTION #4: GUIDED TOUR

Alternatively, you can join a guided tour of Mdina and the cliffs, which is the most convenient and comfortable way to get here.

BEST TIME TO VISIT MALTA DINGLI CLIFFS

The best time to visit is during the spring and autumn months when the weather is pleasant and the views are clear.

Early mornings and late afternoons offer cooler temperatures and stunning light for photography. Also, many people come to see the Dingli Cliffs sunset, and I recommend you do too!

WHAT TO EXPECT AT DINGLI CLIFFS

If you are arriving by car, you can park your vehicle for free at this location.

From the parking lot, make sure to walk to the east side of the cliffs towards the Dingli Cliffs Window, also called Dingli Cliffs Viewpoint.

It’s only about 1 km to reach Dingli Cliffs Viewpoint and the trail is well-maintained with clear signage, so you can’t get lost.

I found the views at Dingli Cliffs Window to be better than the main area, locally known as Radar Point. You’re guaranteed to see the most beautiful views in this part of the island.

If you have more time available on your trip to Malta, I recommend staying a little longer in Mdina and coming here to see the Dingli Cliffs sunset, one of the most beautiful spots to catch it!

On the other hand, if you have limited time, I recommend joining a guided tour to see other highlights in Malta on the way.

If you rent a car, make sure to visit the Blue Grotto too, which is only 15 minutes drive from Dingli.

DINGLI CLIFFS SUNSET

Watching the sunset at Dingli Cliffs is an excellent choice, and while there are other sunset viewpoints on the island, Dingli Cliffs Window is one of the most spectacular.

We found a perfect location to sit and watch the sun dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the cliffs and the sea.

The cool breeze and the sound of waves added to the experience, and I can honestly say that we had an incredible time here.

Yes, it tends to be quite crowded, but there’s enough room for everyone, and I’m confident you’ll be able to take beautiful photos without anyone photobombing!

DINGLI CLIFFS RESTAURANTS

The most popular restaurant nearby is The Cliffs, a great place to have a drink, and enjoy a meal with indoor and outdoor seating options.

The food was enjoyable, with standout dishes like salmon en croute served with salad, vegetables, and a delicious sauce. The seafood pasta was also great, with generous portions.

And if that wasn’t enough, the restaurant features information and small exhibits about the cliffs and the surrounding area, adding an educational touch to your visit.

But The Cliffs isn’t the only restaurant around, and I recommend Barbajean and Galsons in Dingli Town.

Barbajean is a great alternative for a meal. Known for its cozy atmosphere and delicious Maltese cuisine, you’ll find delicious, traditional dishes, as well as pasta and meat dishes.

The friendly service and warm ambiance make it a popular choice for a meal. It’s an excellent spot to enjoy authentic flavors and a relaxing meal after exploring the cliffs. Plus, it’s pretty affordable!

Alternatively, Galsons is a great restaurant with pork ribs, fish and chips, and burgers, among other options. It’s one of the cheapest places to eat in Dingli, but they surely don’t sacrifice quality.
