//

Leke Leke Waterfall (Air Terjun Leke Leke) is one of the BEST waterfalls on the island and I highly recommend adding it to your list of must-see Bali waterfalls.

Leke Leke Bali is the perfect day trip away from the hustle and bustle of Canggu to unwind and explore some of Bali’s most beautiful landscapes in the center of the island.

I have put together this complete guide to visiting these stunning falls including how to get here, how much it costs, countless Leke Leke Waterfall photos, what to expect, and more!

QUICK ANSWERS – LEKE LEKE WATERFALL BALI

Let’s start this guide with all the essentials you should know about Leke Leke Bali, from the location to getting there and more.

WHERE IS LEKE LEKE WATERFALL BALI?

Air Terjun Leke Leke is located in Tabanan Regency, North Bali. It’s approximately a 1.5-hour drive north of Canggu, Seminyak, and Kuta.

HOW TO GET TO LEKE LEKE WATERFALL?

The best way to get here is by car or by scooter.

You can rent a scooter online in advance and the drive takes around 1.5 hours from the main tourist areas of Canggu, Seminyak, and Kuta.

If you are staying in Ubud and plan on visiting these falls from here, the drive is a little shorter and takes only 1-hour.

Don’t feel confident riding a scooter? Another great option for getting around Bali is to hire a private car and a driver for the day and experience all that the island has to offer.

Includes:

  • Experienced driver & guide
  • Hotel pick-up & drop-off
  • Drinking water

IS LEKE LEKE WORTH VISITING?

Leke Leke Waterfall in Bali is definitely worth visiting. The waterfall is surrounded by lush jungle and, other than taking stunning photos, you can chill around for a bit.

That being said, Leke Leke Bali gets pretty busy during the day, and I recommend coming early in the morning to beat the crowds.

WHAT IS LEKE LEKE ENTRANCE FEE AND OPENING TIMES?

The Leke Leke Waterfall entrance fee is 50,000 IDR per person. As for the opening hours, while you can technically access the waterfall 24/7, but the official hours are from 7am to 5pm daily.

That being said, if you plan on visiting outside of these hours, you should still pay the entrance fee once the cashier opens at 8am, so keep that in mind.

ARRIVING AT LEKE LEKE

The jump-off point for the waterfall is very easy to spot from the roadside with a big sign reading ‘Leke Leke.’

Upon arrival, you can safely park your car or scooter in the parking lot next to the ticket office.

The entrance fee is 50,000 IDR per person and this small fee goes towards the staff wages and helps them to maintain the trail down to the falls.

You’ll also find rubbish bins located next to the ticket office, so please don’t litter at this beautiful location and dispose of your trash respectively in the bins provided.

Once you’ve paid the admission fee, continue down the stairs and you’ll come across a small restaurant where you can purchase water or snacks before you make the trek down to the falls.

This is a great spot to chill before and/or after your adventure with amazing views of the jungle below.

THE TRAIL TO THE FALLS

The trail down to the waterfall is well maintained with steps cut into the land and cleared paths.

It can be quite steep and slippery in some sections, so it’s best to wear a good pair of walking shoes with good grip.

It’s an easy to moderate hike to reach the falls which takes approximately 15 minutes. As you can see in the photos, the plant life along the trail is amazing!

There is also a bamboo bridge that stretches over the river crossing which makes for a great place to stop and enjoy the tranquil sounds of the flowing river.

About a third of the way down, chances are you’ll get to meet a friendly local named Nyoman and his jungle-side fruit stall.

My friends and I stopped to have a chat and bought a fresh coconut and a handful of passion fruits, because why not!

The depth of the water is shallow on the edges and about shoulder height the closer you get to the falls which makes it more than suitable for a refreshing plunge.

It’s also possible to explore behind the falls where you’ll find a naturally carved-out cave.

You could easily spend up 1 – 2 hours here, soaking in the tranquil serenity and fully enjoying the nature that surrounds these falls.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

The best lighting to take photos of the falls is anytime between 9 am and 3 pm.

I preferred shooting from a higher angle as opposed to shooting at the base of the falls because the vibrant plants make for a good foreground.

The boulders on the edge of the catch basin are also a great focal point for someone to pose on top of while you stand back and capture the moment.

If you happen to be traveling with a tripod, be sure to use this opportunity to get creative and take some long-exposure shots of the waterfall.

LEKE LEKE SWING

As you make your way back to the entrance, there is a rope chair swing that the landowners have installed between two huge palm trees.

I personally didn’t have a turn on the swing but I did see some other travelers swinging above the jungle canopy and I must say, it looked like a lot of fun.

The going price to have a turn on the swing is 250,000 IDR.

  2. Hi Jonny,

Firstly this is a great article, easily read and informative but I was just wondering if you know the footfall of tourists at the waterfall? I would hate to get there and find 100 people all milling around. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Pete.

    • Thanks for reading and glad you love it! If you go early in the morning around 9am there shouldn’t be too many people there. Each time I have been there early there has been no people. Enjoy 🙂

  3. Hi jonny, Thanks for your post. Just wanted to ask how strenuous getting to this waterfall and back again would be. We would have two small kids with us. Mainly concerned about the way back up.
    Looks amazing though!
