Discover Midigama Beach Sri Lanka!
Midigama is Weligama’s baby brother. A small surf town on the southern tip of Sri Lanka that can be easily missed but definitely NOT to be missed.
I spent two days in Midigama drinking coconuts, surfing, relaxing on the beach and have put together this complete travel guide for Midigama to help you plan your trip!
Have you got travel insurance for Sri Lanka? I know that nobody likes to talk about this stuff but accidents can happen and having World Nomads Insurance can save you thousands of dollars if something goes wrong.
WHERE IS MIDIGAMA
Midigama is 150km south of Colombo which takes around 2 to 3 hours by car, train or bus.
From Weligama, it’s a 4km drive to Midigama which is a short 5 minutes drive.

WHERE TO STAY IN MIDIGAMA
There is no shortage of accommodations in Midigama but I can personally recommend two great places to stay.
A stone’s throw away from the beach with incredible ocean views. There is an in-house restaurant, free wi-fi, excellent rooms and friendly staff for only 3,000 Rupees per night.
A cozy, family-owned house with two private rooms available. There are no ocean views but it’s a short 2-minute walk to Midigama Beach for only 1,000 Rupees per night.

GETTING AROUND MIDIGAMA
Midigama Sri Lanka is so small that you can walk from one end of the beach to the other in 10 minutes.
If you are wanting to head to neighboring towns Ahangama or Weligama for a supermarket or ATM, it is best to hail down a tuk-tuk that will cost you around 200 Rupees. Alternatively, you can walk and it will take you around 30-minutes to 1-hour.
There is no ATM machine in Midigama so make sure you have enough cash for your time spent here.

Memory Card: The best thing about SanDisk Extreme Pro is that it delivers maximum speed for images and videos. Having 64GB of storage means that you can store hundreds of files on this SD card for 2-3 days and not have to worry about running out of space.
External Hard Drive: As a photographer, my images and video files take up a lot of space on my MacBook so I use the WD Elements External Hard Drive to store everything. With 4TB worth of storage space, this is more than enough for 1 year worth of content.
