Nungnung Waterfall is a must-see location on your next adventure in Bali! It is rated as one of the best Bali waterfalls on the island and this blog will clearly show you why.
WHERE IS NUNGNUNG WATERFALL (AIR TERJUN NUNGNUNG)
Nungnung Waterfall is located in the high mountains of Bali in the northern region. It is approximately 40kms from Denpasar with a trip time of 1.5 hours or a 1-hour drive from Ubud. As you appraoch the village of Nungnung you will trace the road via hilly rice fields and coconut palm plantations.
There are also 2 more waterfalls close by to Nungnung Waterfall such as Leke Leke Waterfall & Sekumpul Waterfall. I recommend exploring all 3 waterfalls over the duration of 2 days. See the bottom of theis article for recommended places to stay near Nungnung Waterfall.

The hike down to Nungnung Waterfall takes approximately 20 minutes. The track is clear and you will also have to attack a steep set of concrete stairs that will without a doubt give your legs a good workout. It is all worth it when you make it down to the base of Air Terjun Nungnung!
Of all the incredible waterfalls that I have explored in Bali, Nungnung Waterfall makes my top 3 list of the best Bali waterfalls!
It is possible to swim in the rock pool beneath the 50-meter waterfall though do so at your own risk. The water discharge is one of the most powerful ones I have seen.

NUNGNUNG WATERFALL – THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
The best time to visit Nungnung Waterfall (Air Terjun Nungnung) is in the morning between 10am-12pm for the best lighting from the sun.
There are several angles to shoot this waterfall from, my personal favourite is with the bamboo bridge in the foreground. The spray in the amphitheatre beneath the falls can soak your camera lens, so be prepared with a lens wiper.
I always tend to pack a lunch and plenty of drinking water on my daily adventures throughout Bali, however, you can always find warungs (local restaurants) at basically every waterfall location. A local dish of nasi goreng or mie goreng will cost you $2.50 and bottled water for $1.
