5 BEST THINGS TO DO IN BANGKOK IN 3 DAYS

KHAO SAN ROAD

Khao San Road is the center of the backpacking universe! The 1km Khao San Road strip is lined with budget hostels, street food vendors, bars, market stalls, massage parlors, internet cafes, and much more!

The best time to visit Khao San Road is from late afternoon to midnight when the backpacker strip comes to life!

Expect to have nothing but good times in the infectious atmosphere on Khao San Road.

Also, make sure to take a stroll down Soi Rambuttri, the next street across from Khaosan Road.

Soi Rambuttri has a more chilled atmosphere with nice restaurants, bars, and souvenir stores.

WAT ARUN TEMPLE

Located on the western shores of the Chao Phraya River is one of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks, the Wat Arun Temple, that you should definitely visit when spending 1 day in Bangkok.

The entrance fee to Wat Arun is 50 Baht.

Wat Arun, commonly known as the ‘Temple Of Dawn’ is an impressive 80 meters tall and the highest Buddhist temple in Thailand. The detailed carvings on the outer walls of Wat Arun are incredible, to say the least.

Travel Tip: I recommend visiting Wat Arun as soon as it opens at 8 am to beat the crowds and the midday heat. Also, appropriate clothing must be worn as it is a sacred temple, so make sure to wear a shirt that covers your shoulders and pants/skirt down to your knees.

CREATIVE DISTRICT IN BANGKOK

The creative district is one of Bangkok’s most upcoming spots that are still very much unknown and off the beaten path.

I seriously would not have found this area of Bangkok if it wasn’t for a local friend of mine, Pong, who works at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel and she showed me so many little hidden gems in the short space of an hour.

The Creative District Bangkok is located on two sides of the Chao Phraya River in the Khlong Ton Sai and Bangrak areas which are conveniently connected by a ferry that only costs 5 Baht.

There are 4 must-see things in the Creative District Bangkok such as Warehouse 30, Wall Art on Charoen Krung 32 Alley, Tropic City Hipster Bar, and Khlong San Market.

GOLDEN MOUNTAIN BANGKOK

The Golden Mountain Bangkok, also known as Wat Saket, is a temple in the heart of the city with a 360-degree panoramic viewing platform at the top overlooking Bangkok.

The Wat Saket Temple is open from 8 am to 6 pm on Monday – Sunday and the entrance fee is 50 Baht. Appropriate clothing must be worn to enter Golden Mountain Bangkok.

One of my favorite things to do at the Golden Mountain Bangkok was to ring every single bell that lines the 344-step spiral staircase on the way to the top of the Wat Saket Temple.

CHINATOWN BANGKOK

Chinatown is one of Bangkok’s most popular attractions and one of the best things to do in Bangkok in 3 days!

Dive deep into the heart of Chinatown and explore the narrow streets of market stalls, juice bars, street-side cuisine, gold and silver jewelers, and Chinese temples.

Chinatown Bangkok has a thriving atmosphere like no other ‘Chinatown’ in the world that I have experienced, with a contagious vibing energy that will keep you wanting to come back for more!

Needless to say, it’s one of the best places to visit in Asia as a family!

GETTING AROUND BANGKOK

There are half a dozen ways of getting around Bangkok including Grab taxi, GoJek (motorbike taxi), tourist boats, underground metro, BTS (Skytrain), tuk-tuks, and local buses.

My recommendation to see all the things in Bangkok in 3 days on the cheap is to use either Grab taxis, tuk-tuks, or tourist boats.

Grab taxi is one of the cheapest and best modes of transport in and around Bangkok City. Download the Grab app from the App Store on your smartphone to use Grab taxi services.

Tuk-tuks are a fun way to explore all the sites in Bangkok but you have to be good at bargaining a good deal with your driver otherwise you will be blindly ripped off.

Travel Tip: Whatever a tuk-tuk driver will try to charge you for a ride, offer them 50% less.

Tourist boats are cheap and convenient to avoid gridlocked traffic on the Bangkok streets and cruise up, down, and across the Chao Phraya River to reach some of the most famous Bangkok tourist spots.
