GETTING AROUND UBUD

The best way to get around UBUD is on a scooter. For scooter rentals, you can ask your accommodation to organize this as they are always able to help.

Scooter rental is typically 50,000 IDR per day or you can rent them on a monthly basis from anywhere between 600,000 IDR and 700,000 IDR.

From Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu, it’s approximately a 1-hour to 1.5-hour journey to reach Ubud depending on traffic.

Alternatively, if you are not comfortable driving a scooter, you can rent a car in Bali and explore Ubud on 4 wheels instead of 2.

BEST TIME TO VISIT BALI

The best time to visit Bali for perfect weather and fewer tourists is between the months of April and October.

The rainy season in Bali is typically from December through to February and this is also peak season for tourists arriving during the Christmas and New Year holiday season.

BALI TOURIST VISA

When entering Bali, there is a Visa On Arrival policy that allows tourists to stay for a maximum of 30-days at no cost.

If you wish to stay in Bali for more than 30-days you must pay USD $35 for the Visa On Arrival in order for you to be able to extend it at the immigration office located in Denpasar City.

You can only extend the 30-day visa to a 60-day visa and it requires a couple of visits to the immigration office to hand in your passport, do fingerprints and then pick up your passport a week later.

BALI TRANSPORTATION

There are a few ways of getting around Bali – scooter, motorbike, go-jek, grab taxi and private taxi. In my experience, the cheapest and most convenient way of getting around Bali is by scooter.

The cost of scooter hire is around $4 day and petrol can be bought for as little as 70 cents per litre.

If you are not comfortable riding a scooter on the crazy roads of Bali you can use Go-Jek and Grab Taxi services. Download the free app from the App Store and you’ll need a local number to register before you can start using the service.

If you are traveling solo, you can select the motorbike taxi option within the Go-Jek and Grab app’s which is by far the cheapest mode of transport to get you from A to B.

BALI – THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

The currency in Bali is Rupiah (IDR) and the exchange rate is approximately $1 USD = 14,000 IDR.

Purchasing a sim card in Bali is very cheap and simple. You can purchase a Bali SIM Card online in advance and pick it up at the airport when you arrive.

For approximately $7 USD, you can get a local sim card that comes with 10GB of data with calls and texts included!
