Kurrawa Beach is one of my all-time favorite beaches on the Gold Coast and it’s not to be missed during your visit! Kurrawa is the perfect place to go to enjoy a day in the sun, swimming, surfing, and relaxing with your friends and family!
I have put together this complete guide of Kurrawa Beach including how to get there and what to expect!
Also in this Kuurawa Beach guide, I have included some useful information on where to stay on the Gold Coast, recommended tours on the Gold Coast and the best time to visit!
Have you got travel insurance for Australia? I know that nobody likes to talk about this stuff but accidents can happen and having World Nomads Insurance can save you thousands of dollars if something goes wrong.

HOW TO GET TO KURRAWA BEACH
Kurrawa Beach is located in front of the Broadbeach, just 10 minutes drive south of Gold Coast’s central tourist hub, Surfers Paradise.
There are a few transportation options to reach Kuurawa Beach which include renting a car, public transport, Uber, or on foot.
RENT A CAR:
In my opinion, renting a car is by far going to be your best option to reach Kurrawa Beach, especially if you’re heading from Coolangatta or Brisbane.
Driving a car on the Gold Coast is very safe and the road rules are very straight forward. If you’re an American or European, do note that we drive on the left-hand side of the road in Australia so this might take a few hours to get used to.
I always use Rentalcars.com to search and book car rentals in Gold Coast as they offer the best rates.
Public buses and trams run frequently along the Gold Coast Highway which is another good option for getting down to Kurrawa Beach.
I recommend purchasing a Go Card from any 7 Eleven stores on the Gold Coast.
It costs $10 AUD to purchase a Go Card and you will also need to top it up with around $20 – $30 which should be enough to cover your transport for a few days on the Gold Coast.
It’s as easy as tapping on and tapping off with your Go Card when riding on the buses or trams on the Gold Coast. A handy tool to use when traveling on public transport is the Translink Journey Planner.
If you don’t have a Go Card, it’s possible to purchase paper tickets on board public transport, however, you will end up paying around 30% more for each journey.
There are quite literally thousands of Uber drivers on the Gold Coast and at any time of the day you are able to search and book an Uber online using the app and within a matter of minutes, you can easily find a ride to get to Kurrawa Beach.
Uber’s are a lot cheaper than taxis on the Gold Coast and if it’s your first time using Uber, you’ll get your first ride for free!
If you happen to be renting a hotel or apartment in Broadbeach, you can simply walk to Kurrawa Beach in around 5-10 minutes.

ARRIVING AT KURRAWA BEACH
When you arrive at Kurrawa Beach, there is a large parking lot in front of Kurrawa Surf Club with hundreds of car spaces available and it’s around $4 AUD per hour for parking.
If you want to save your cash, you can find free parking spaces along the main road and also down some of the side streets in Broadbeach.
From the parking lot, there is direct access to the beach, taking a short 2-minutes to get there on foot.
Any trash that you accumulate during your visit to Kurrawa Beach can be placed in the rubbish bins provided along the beachfront boardwalk or in the park areas. Please help keep our Gold Coast beaches clean!

WHAT TO EXPECT AT KURRAWA BEACH
Kurrawa Beach is a great place to visit during the day for a swim at the beach, a picnic in the park, lunch or dinner at the Kurrawa Surf Club, or a stroll along the boardwalk.
Broadbeach covers quite a large stretch of beach, though the main swimming area that you’ll want to check out is called Kurrawa Beach.
Featuring toilet amenities, a surf club, cafe, beach volleyball, electric BBQs, shaded gazebos and grassy areas, I think it’s safe to say that Kurrawa Beach is a great place to spend a day outdoors!
Across the road from Kurrawa Beach is The Oasis Shopping Center where you can find many retail stores, supermarkets, food courts and more.

BEST TIME TO VISIT KURRAWA BEACH
The best time to visit Kurruwa Beach is early morning or late afternoon as it won’t be too hot under the midday sun.
If you can time your visit to Kurrawa Beach Gold Coast for a weekday, chances are you will get to enjoy the beach with fewer people around.
Kurrawa Beach is known to be very popular on weekends so you can expect it to be very busy with many families and groups of friends hanging out here on the shoreline and in the parks.
My recommendation would be to get down to Kurrawa Beach between 6:00 am and 10:00 am to score a good spot along the beachfront and enjoy a swim and a sunbake before the crowds hit.
Also, late afternoon around 5 pm – 6 pm is a nice time to visit Kurrawa Beach as it’s a great spot to watch the colors from the sunset dance across the horizon.
