DISCOVER STINIVA BEACH ON VIS ISLAND!
Stiniva Beach, also referred to as Stiniva Bay or Stiniva Cove, on Vis island is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever laid my eyes on!
A secluded turquoise cove with pebbly shores and surrounding verdant cliffs are just some of the reasons why Stiniva Beach was rated Europe’s Best Beach in 2019.
I have put together The Ultimate Guide to Stiniva Beach including how to get there, best times to visit and what to expect.
Have you got travel insurance for Croatia? I know that nobody likes to talk about this stuff but accidents can happen and having World Nomads Insurance can save you thousands of dollars if something goes wrong.
WHERE IS STINIVA BEACH
Stiniva Beach is located on the southern coastline of Vis Island in Croatia.
HOW TO GET TO STINIVA BEACH
There are two ways of getting to Stivina Beach Croatia, one is by boat and the other is by hiking.
Stiniva Vis can be accessed via boat along the south coast of the island. Stiniva Bay is located just offshore from Stiniva Beach with an allocated area for larger boats to anchor. From here you can swim into shore, cruise in on a dingy or paddle over on a stand-up board.
If you don’t have your own set of sails, there are a number of boat tours on Vis that will take you around to all of the secluded bays and beaches, including the incredible Vis Stiniva. A Vis boat tour is definitely one of the best ways to explore the outer edges of the island.

From the parking lot, there is a hiking trail down to Stiniva Beach that takes around twenty to thirty minutes each way.

BEST TIME TO VISIT STINIVA VIS
As I mentioned earlier, Stiniva Beach was awarded Europe’s Best Beach in 2019, so you can expect every man and his dog to be there in the middle of summer.
However, don’t let this deter you from visiting this Stiniva Beach during your summer holidays in Croatia.
The best time to visit Stiniva Beach in Vis is early morning just after sunrise at around 7:00 am and I guarantee there will be fewer people. You may even get lucky and have this secluded haven all to yourself.
Another good time to visit Stiniva Bay is at sunset. The majority of tourists will spend the entire day down on Stiniva Beach and eventually head back to the main city by the late afternoon before nightfall.
So watching the sunset at Stiniva Beach Croatia may just be an unforgettable experience not to miss!
ARRIVING AT STINIVA BEACH
My friends and I decided to rent scooters for the day, drive over to Stiniva Beach and hike down to the ocean as opposed to going on a boat tour around Vis Croatia.
We arrived at the top parking lot around midday and there were at least a dozen other cars and scooters here too. It probably wasn’t the best time to visit Stiniva Beach because it was hot as hell in the midday sun and we knew it was going to be packed with other beachgoers.
Nevertheless, we were all so keen to go for a dip in the ocean at the most talked-about beach in Europe!

HIKING TO STINIVA BEACH
From the parking lot, there is a walking trail that is signposted and it will lead you right the way down to Stiniva Vis. The hike takes around twenty to thirty minutes from top to bottom and for the most part, it is unshaded, so be sure to slip on some sunscreen and slap on a hat.
Note: The hiking trail to Stiniva Beach is a combination of steps, rocks and loose gravel so I highly recommend wearing closed-in shoes. Trust me on this as I saw many people struggling on the trail that was wearing only flip flops.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT STINIVA BEACH
About halfway down the trail, there is an opening of the trees, revealing the incredible Stiniva Beach below. I stopped here to take a couple of photos and these images ended up being my favorite snaps from the adventure.
At the end of the trail, you’ll emerge through some bushes and directly onto the pebbly shoreline at Stiniva Vis. A rewarding sight for sore eyes after a sweaty hike down the mountainside.
There is a small bar located down on Stiniva Beach Vis if you would like to grab some snacks and refreshments before finding a nice spot to perch up by the water’s edge.
If you love cliff jumping then you are in heaven! There are a number of cliffs to climb at Stiniva Cove and you can show off your best jumps to the onlooking crowd!
Note: The rocks on the cliffs can be quite sharp and jagged at Stiniva Beach, so you may want to pack a pair of slip-on waterproof shoes to protect your feet.
If you’re not so much of a thrill-seeker, you can go for a snorkel in the turquoise-coloured Stiniva Bay or simply lay on the hot rocks along Stiniva Beach and work on that summer tan!
